One of the most popular football leagues in the world, La Primera Division continues with its 22nd round this weekend, offering several great games including the long-awaited blockbuster FC Barcelona – Atlético Madrid. Tied on points in the first two spots, the rivals will battle it out for the top of the league table. Well aware of this favourable record and their current form, the reigning Spanish champions are sure to go all-out for a victory in the Saturday game.

Atlético Madrid

Last year, Atlético ended up in the 3rd place, which was certainly considered a success but for most of the season, they could hardly compete with Barcelona and Real. This time around, however, Atlético have been doing much better in this regard. 21 rounds into the season, the team boast an impressive score of 15 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses. Madrid may not produce as crushing victories as Barcelona but their recent results have been admirable as well. Out of the last ten league games, Atlético won eight. Yet, the very last match did not turn out well for the Colchoneros as they were held to a goalless draw against Sevilla, consequently loosing the top spot. One of the things that the team´s coach Simeone could appreciate in this match was the fact that his side produced another clean sheet. In fact, Atlético have only conceded 8 goals in the season, which is by far the smallest number in the league. Nevertheless, as reliable as the team´s defence seems to be, preventing the feared Barca´s attacking trio Messi – Suárez – Neymar from scoring is an extremely daunting task that no defender wants to face.

With the top spot in La Liga at stake, the leaders Barcelona will pit their strength against second-placed Atlético. Jedna z najprzyjemniejszych drużyn do oglądania, której zawsze bardziej zależy, żeby strzelić bramkę, grać o trzy punkty, niż kurczowo bronić wyniku. Skutkiem tego jest też oczywiście największa liczba straconych bramek w całej lidze, tym niemniej stylu ekipy Paco Jemeza po prostu nie da się nie lubić. Ostatnio stołeczni notują nieco lepszy okres, gdyż wygrali w domu z Celtą Vigo 3:0 oraz zremisowali z mocnymi ekipami Valencii i Realu Socedad w obu przypadkach 2:2. Już choćby z analizy powyższych wyników można spodziewać się, iż przyjezdni strzelą dziś co najmniej jedną bramkę. Będzie o to o tyle łatwiej, że w szeregach gospodarzy nie zobaczymy nominalnie podstawowego bramkarza Germana Luxa, który pauzuje za kartki. Jego zastępcą prawdopodobnie będzie Stipe Pletikosa, który ostatni, oficjalny mecz rozegrał w czerwcu ubiegłego roku. Co do Deportivo to miejscowi spisują się co najmniej solidnie. Gwiazdą drużyny jest Lucas Perez, który już trzynastokrotnie zaskakiwał bramkarzy rywali w obecnym sezonie ligowym. W mojej ocenie mając na uwadze potencjał ofensywny obu drużyn zobaczymy co najmniej trzy bramki, a i 4, 5 lub więcej goli również wykluczyć nie można.

Espanyol - Real Sociedad Typ: x @ 3.10 Betsson

Zapowiada się bardzo zacięte spotkanie. Obie drużyny balansują nad strefą spadkową - Espanyol ma jeden punkt przewagi nad osiemnastym Las Palmas, zaś Real Sociedad zaledwie 3 punkty. Zakładam więc, iż obie ekipy podejdą do dzisiejszego starcia z dużo dozą ostrożności, gdyż ewentualna porażka może mocno skomplikować ich sytuację. W obu ekipach zabraknie kilku ważnych zawodników:

After equalizing the club record of 28 defeat-less games in row, Barcelona are looking to extend this incredible series on Sunday when they will host Celta Vigo. The visitors are currently sitting in the seventh spot but their performance has been very unconvincing in the last couple of matches, which suggests they should be an easy target for the reigning Spanish champions. Starting at 8:30 PM (CET), the Sunday La Liga duel FC Barcelona vs. Celta Vigo will be played at the Camp Nou Stadium in Barcelona.

FC Barcelona

Barcelona have been in a great shape lately. The team have been flourishing in all competitions where they have been unbeaten in the last 28 games, which is the same feat that Pep Guardiola achieved with this side in the 2010/2011 season. In their last league game against Levante, Barcelona were far from their best though. Yet, Levante defender Navarro’s first-half own goal and Luis Suarez’s strike in stoppage time was enough for Barca to secure their 10th consecutive win in all competitions. Thanks to this win, Enrique´s men moved three point clear at the top of the league table where they still have one game in hand on their closest rivals Atlético and Real Madrid. On Sunday, the Catalans will take on Celta Vigo who are a team that Barca have a lot to avenge. In the fifth round, Vigo surprisingly triumphed over the Spanish champions 4:1. As it was one of just two defeats they have suffered in the season, Barca are determined to strike back and claim a victory in the upcoming match.

Celta Vigo

Last year, Celta Vigo finished in the 8th place and at the beginning of the season, it seemed they could do even better this time around. Until the 16th round, Vigo were chasing the very top La Liga sides, sitting in the European cups spots but then, their performance dropped significantly. Out of the last seven league games, Celta managed to pick up just one victory, slipping down into the seventh place. During this undesired series of failures, this Galician team even lost to some of the relegation-threatened sides such as Vallecano (0:3) or Las Palmas (1:2). Celta seem to have particularly big problems with their defence as they failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the last seven matches. Considering the enormous productivity of Barca´s feared attacking trio Messi – Neymar – Suárez, it would be a real shocker if they did not concede any goals in the Sunday game. In fact, Celta will be clear underdogs of the match and any other outcome but a crushing victory of the Catalans will be a surprise.

Summary

On Sunday, Barcelona will face another opponent in their quest for the La Liga title as they will host ailing but still quite well-positioned Celta Vigo. Looking to extend their unique unbeaten series to 29 games in row, Barca are expected to prevail in this fixture but Vigo have already managed to beat them this season. Barcelona´s biggest rivals Real Madrid will have work cut out for them in the Primera Division´s 25th round. After a tough and exhausting Champions League battle at AS Roma, Real will be in for another challenging duel as they will travel to Malaga to claim a win and hopefully reduce the Catalans´ lead at the top of the table. Starting at 4 PM (CET), the La Liga duel Malaga FC vs. Real Madrid will be played at the La Rosaleda Stadium in Malaga.

Malaga CF

Last year, Malaga finished in the ninth spot in La Liga and they have been occupying the middle of the table this year as well. After 24 matches, the team have a score of 8 wins, 6 draws and 10 losses, which currently puts them in the 11th place. But Malaga still have a lot to play for. The last spot to secure a place in European tournaments (currently occupied by Eibar) is within a reach of just two wins for the Albicesteles. In their last league game, Gracia´s men lost to Villarreal (0:1) but they picked up two victories in the previous matches against Getafe (3:0) and Eibar (2:1) and they also gave a decent performance against Barcelona to whom they lost just 1:2. In fact, Malaga have been quite successful against the top Spanish sides in general. In the 16th round, for example, they gained a surprising victory over Atlético and they also produced a valued goalless draw at Real in the first head-to-head game of the season. This time, however, Real are in a need of securing a win to keep in touch with Barcelona and they will surely do their utmost to meet this goal.

Real Madrid

Real seem to have overcome the issue with unstable form they were struggling with recently and they bounced back to winning. Out of the last nine league duels, Madrid won seven, which appears to be a great score but in fact, it is not good enough because Barcelona, Madrid´s biggest rivals, have been even more successful in their matches. Consequently, Los Blancos are now as many as seven points adrift of Barca. Moreover, Atlético also joined the contention for the title, currently placed second, one point ahead of Real. Therefore, Zidane´s squad are under pressure to gain as many points as possible in the remaining matches and they still have to wait for their rivals´ potential slip-ups. Chasing the top teams in La Liga is not the only task Real have been dealing with though. They are also looking to succeed in the Champions League where they already have one foot in the quarter-final after they earned a 2:0 win at AS Roma in the first round of 16 leg. Yet, as strenuous as the match was, Real have no time to rest as they will need to gain another victory in their Sunday game against Malaga.

On Sunday, Malaga will be the site of an interesting La Liga duel as the home side will battle it out with Real Madrid. As Malaga have had a good record against top teams, they are sure to stand up to the Madrid favourites and give their best performance. Po ostatniej kolejce Primera Division, FC Barcelona jest już na wyciągnięcie ręki od kolejnego mistrzostwa Hiszpanii. Real Madryt i Atletico Madryt ledwie zremisowały przed tygodniem w swoich meczach i tracą do Dumy Katalonii odpowiednio dziewięć i osiem oczek. W najbliższych, sobotnich derbach stolicy Hiszpanii ktoś ponownie straci punkty, a więc dalej zmniejszy szanse na końcowy sukces w krajowej lidze. Tylko kto to będzie?

Real Madryt

Królewscy oficjalnie nie złożyli jeszcze broni, ale matematyka i historia są dla nich okrutne: jeszcze nigdy w historii Primera Division nie zdarzyło się, aby ktoś odrobił dziewięciopunktową stratę do pierwszego miejsca w tabeli w ciągu ostatnich 13 kolejek sezonu. Zdaniem niektórych komentatorów, derby Madrytu na Estadio Santiago Bernabeu będą więc co najwyżej pojedynkiem o tytuł wicemistrza Hiszpanii. Real w przypadku wygranej jest w stanie przeskoczyć Atletico o dwa punkty, ale jeśli polegnie na oczach własnych kibiców, będzie tracił do El Atleti już cztery oczka.

Piłkarze prowadzeni przez Zinedine'a Zidane'a w poprzednią niedzielę przerwali passę czterech zwycięstw z rzędu, ledwie remisując 1:1 na wyjeździe z Malagą. Losy tego spotkania mogły potoczyć się inaczej, jednak przy stanie meczu 1:0 dla Królewskich rzutu karnego nie wykorzystał Cristiano Ronaldo. Wcześniej w minionym tygodniu Real pokonał w Lidze Mistrzów 2:0 AS Romę. Wyniki te - jak również kilka poprzednich - Królewscy uzyskali, grając bez dwóch kluczowych kontuzjowanych graczy: Pepego i Garetha Bale'a, którzy zmagają się z kontuzjami.

Atletico Madryt

Drugi klub ze stolicy Hiszpanii ma tylko odrobinę większe szanse na dogonienie Barcelony w La Lidze. Gdyby nie bezbramkowy remis z Villarealem w ostatni weekend, Atletico traciłoby do Blaugrany sześć oczek. Teraz dystans El Atleti do lidera wynosi już osiem punktów, choć jeszcze niedawno kolejność zespołów na szczycie tabeli była odwrotna. Podopieczni Diego Simeone z ostatnich ośmiu meczów (we wszystkich rozgrywkach łącznie) wygrali jedynie dwa, co musiało się odbić negatywnie na ich pozycji w ligowej klasyfikacji.

Rojiblancos w sobotę będą sobie musieli radzić bez kontuzjowanych graczy, takich jak Tiago i Yannick Ferreira Carrasco. Do powrotu na murawę gotowy jest Thomas Partey, który wznowił w środku tygodnia treningi. Nie wiadomo, czy podobny los czeka Stefana Savicia - reprezentant Czarnogóry nabawił się lekkiego urazu w środowym starciu z PSV Eindhoven w Lidze Mistrzów (0:0). Antoine Griezmann na stadionie Realu spróbuje przełamać najdłuższą w tym sezonie passę meczów bez strzelenia gola (pięć). Co ciekawe, Atletico w kampanii 2015/2016 przegrało tylko trzy z 13 wyjazdów w lidze, a ponadto w dziewięciu meczach poza domem nie dało sobie strzelić ani żadnego gola.

Podsumowanie

Spośród ostatnich 19 ligowych meczów derbowych z Atletico rozegranych na Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Królewscy wygrali 17, przegrali dwa, a nie zremisowali ani jednego. W rundzie jesiennej na obiekcie El Atleti byliśmy świadkami podziału punktów po tym, jak gospodarze doprowadzili do remisu 1:1 w końcowych minutach. W niedzielę taki wynik byłby korzystny chyba tylko dla Barcelony. Czy kluby z Madrytu "wyeliminują się" wzajemnie z walki o mistrzostwo Hiszpanii?

Jeszcze na początku marca FC Villarreal miał 11 punktów przewagi nad FC Sevillą, tymczasem jeśli przegra z nią w niedzielę na Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, to różnica ta wynosić będzie już tylko pięć oczek. Dla Sevillistas będzie to jedna z ostatnich szans na to, by włączyć się do gry o czwarte miejsce w tabeli Primera Division, dające przepustkę do walki w kwalifikacjach Ligi Mistrzów.

FC Sevilla

Zespół ze stolicy Andaluzji już teraz mógł być nieco bliżej Villarrealu, jednak w ostatniej ligowej kolejce zaledwie zremisował 1:1 na wyjeździe z Getafe, tracąc gola w 86 minucie spotkania. Dla Sevilli było to już trzecie potknięcie w minionych czterech występach w Primera Division. Jedno z nich można bez problemu usprawiedliwić (porażka 1:2 z FC Barceloną na Camp Nou), ale już remis 2:2 ze znajdującym się blisko strefy spadkowej Rayo Vallecano (pomimo prowadzenia 2:0) był sporym rozczarowaniem.

Ekipa Unaia Emery'ego nie ma dużo czasu na przygotowanie się do niedzielnego starcia, w czwartkowy wieczór grała bowiem swój pierwszy mecz z FC Basel w ramach 1/8 finału Ligi Europejskiej. W Szwajcarii Sevillistas zremisowali bezbramkowo, co stawia ich w roli faworytów rewanżu. Andaluzyjczycy od około miesiąca radzą sobie bez Grzegorza Krychowiaka, ale jeśli wierzyć doniesieniom hiszpańskich mediów, Polak wróci do składu właśnie w starciu z Villarrealem. Najprawdopodobniej Sevilla osłabiona będzie więc tylko brakiem Nicolasa Pareji i Marco Andreolliego, których kontuzje są na tyle poważne, że chyba nie zobaczymy już tych graczy w bieżącym sezonie na murawie.

FC Villarreal

Kibice Żółtej Łodzi Podwodnej nie dowierzają w to, co wydarzyło się w minionej kolejce La Ligi. Villarreal na Camp El Madrigal uległ 0:1 słabiutkiemu UD Las Palmas, które przed sobotą miało tylko punkt przewagi nad strefą spadkową. Na niewiele zdały się zatem niedawne remisy z mocnymi Atletico Madryt i Celtą de Vigo. Przegrana z Las Palmas wstrząsnęła Villarrealem, była bowiem jego pierwszym ligowym meczem bez jakichkolwiek zdobyczy punktowych od końca listopada, a zarazem pierwszą domową porażką od połowy października. We wcześniejszych 14 kolejkach klub z Walencji odnotował dziewięć zwycięstw i pięć remisów.

Zdaje się jednak, że piłkarze El Submarino Amarillo zapomnieli już o wpadce sprzed tygodnia. W czwartek Villarreal wypunktował w 1/8 finału Ligi Europejskiej Bayer Leverkusen. Obie bramki dla gospodarzy w zwycięskim 2:0 meczu strzelił Cedric Bakambu, najskuteczniejszy w tym sezonie zawodnik zespołu prowadzonego przez trenera Marcelino, choć tych goli zdobył jak dotąd niewiele (osiem w lidze). Dobrze jednak wiemy, że prawdziwa siła Villarrealu opiera się nie na ofensywie, lecz na żelaznej defensywie. W Primera Division Żółta Łódź Podwodna dała sobie wbić tylko 19 bramek w 28 meczach. To mniej, niż straciły ich FC Barcelona czy Real Madryt.

Podsumowanie

W poprzedniej rundzie (a dokładniej w 10 kolejce) na Camp El Madrigal gospodarze pokonali Sevillę 2:1. Trzeba jednak pamiętać o tym, że forma Andaluzyjczyków z pierwszej części sezonu niewiele ma wspólnego z ich znacznie lepszą dyspozycją w późniejszych miesiącach. Czy zespół Grzegorza Krychowiaka zrewanżuje się na własnym obiekcie za porażkę w Walencji i zmniejszy stratę do Villarrealu?
