An ill-tempered game burst into life in the third period when Atlanta Hawks' centre Zaza Pachulia was ejected for hitting British big man Eric Boeteng, with Boeteng also being thrown out for retaliation.
Chris Finch's team won the battle of the boards in the first half as they opened their summer campaign, but found the Georgians three-point shooting hard to contain, and it took a fine play from Roger Huggins to set Chicago Bulls' star Deng up for a last second basket and send the teams into the locker room locked at 32-32.
Georgia pulled away in the second half, and despite a late rally from the British side they held on for victory.
Nate Reinking added 15 points for Britain - who were without Robert Archibald - while Andy Betts finished with 14 points.
Deng admitted that it had been a tough game for his new side, and that he needs some adjustment to playing FIBA - rather than NBA - rules: "There's no spacing at all," he said. "Also the three-point line is closer to the basket so the perimeter guys are closer to the big guys. So it's a lot tougher to drive and whether you like it or not you have to rely a lot more on your jumpshot."

A fine third period saw Chris Finch's Great Britain side bounce back from Thursday's loss against Georgia to record an ultimately comfortable victory.
For the second successive day it was Chicago Bull's star Luol Deng who led the way for the British side, scoring 24 points and dishing out five assists. Deng was given good back-up from former Newcastle Eagles forward Andrew Sullivan who scored 17, while Andy Betts added 13.
Having lost a close game at the same venue in France the day before, GB started poorly as they trailed 23-13 at the first break. It took some good play by Sullivan to keep Britain in the game, but they still went into the locker room 39-29 down.
Whatever Finch said to his team at half-time clearly worked as Britain reeled off the first eight points of the second half, and took the lead for the first time with 4:45 of the third period remaining.
The final break arrived with Britain having outscored the Georgians 30-12 to lead 59-51, and with Mike Lenzly doing a good job on the Georgian point guard they steadily increased the lead throughout the fourth period to pick up the win.

Hosts Croatia were made to fight all the way by Great Britain before winning 74-64 in Rijeka on Sunday evening.
Chris Finch's Britain side were without NBA star Luol Deng - who misses the three game trip, but will return for Thursday's game against Ireland in Crawley - but put up a fine performance before losing to one of Europe's tip sides.
Led by the 13 points from Andy Betts and 12 from Andrew Sullivan, the British side overcame a poor first half to make a game of it in the fourth period.
Croatia began the game confidently, posting a 9-0 start and lead 23-17 at the first break before stretching that advantage by five to 38-27 going into the locker room.
The third period proved to be a tight one, with the home-town Croats edging it 14-12 to lead 52-39 at the final break, but they were stung by a 13-2 British run as their accuracy from long range proved crucial.
The closest Britain came was three points, and after a time-out Croatian coach Jasmin Repesa put the ball into the hands of Zoran Planinic, his best player on the night, and he and Stanko Baric saw Croatia home.
Although Britain had only two players in double, the rest of the roster all chipped in, with Richard Midgley celebrating his recent decision to return to British basketball with Newcastle Eagles by scoring eight, and Chris Sanders adding seven
The tournament now moves onto Crikvenica on Monday where Britain will face Finland.
